Fireworks and blood flowed when the Huntington Beach Bad Boy met the original Ultimate Fighter for the second time. On their first match inside the cage, Tito Ortiz dominated on the ground and dictated the fight with his explosive double-leg takedowns and vicious, patented ground and pound. It was a really close fight that could have gone either way but the judges, seeing the bloody face of Forrest Griffin, awarded Ortiz with the unanimous decision. The fans and both fighters wanted a few more rounds and last weekend, they got exactly that. After finishing all my custom essays and other requirements for school, I propped down in front of the TV with my bucket of popcorn and watched as the long-awaited rematch unfolded.Unfortunately for Tito Ortiz, Forrest came out with guns blazing, utilizing a better guard and an even better takedown defense.
Forrest's striking was crisp and accurate and his leg work and lateral movements created angles as he landed solid shots and nice combos, a great deal of improvement since his debut years ago as the original Ultimate fighter champion. His leg kicks were pretty awesome, too, landing with force and precision that hurt Tito's lead leg which took away some of the extra boost necessary when he's shooting for a take-down. But it was also the hole in his game that made him susceptible to Tito's takedowns as the Huntington Beach Bad Boy took him down and pounded him in Round 1 and 2, opening a cut. But even with blood gushing all over his face, Forrest's guard was so good that he was not really hurt or put into serious trouble. He even reversed the positions near the end of Round 2 and landed a few, short punches and a couple of elbows before the bell sounded.
But the third round was so decisive for Forrest as he dominated the stand-up game and landed combos after combos almost at will. Tito tried to take him down twice but Forrest was ready for him down and pushed him away and Tito simply had no answer to Forrest's relentless barrage of punches and leg kicks. The judges awarded Forrest with the split decision and they were tied in their two outings, taking one win a piece. All in all it was a really great fight, a classic if you will. A conclusive third match should be arranged soon to break the tie and see who is hungrier for the next title shot. I just hope that I finish all my homeworks, custom papers and other projects for school before that decisive third fight because these two fighters just keep on getting better and betterand they really put in a great show of courage, resilience, and the biggest hearts in the game.Go do your job, Dana, cause we want more!
